About US

Ted Meyer has been following DC United since childhood when he would trek to RFK Stadium with his dad, and the US upset over Portugal in the 2002 WC cemented soccer as his sport of choice. Then Alecko Eskandarian, the 2004 DC United team, and one chilly night in November solidified DC as his favorite team. He started to consume articles, podcasts, videos, and any content that dealt with DC and MLS. Wanting to be a part of this media, he joined the Champions Soccer Radio Network and the Around the League podcast covering all teams in MLS. There he met Jon as the DC United correspondent and they developed a regular report. Work took him away from podcasting, but he rejoined the scene with Jon when his situation changed. Frustrated with the lack of podcast content he wanted to bring a show for the fans of DC United. Working with Jon, RFK Refugees was born. He thanks his wife and family for being flexible as he pursues a passion talking soccer and his boyhood team.

TED
Jon

Jon Hoffman became a DC United fan right after they stopped winning things, and has found joy in Santino Quaranta’s second stint, Louis Crayton playing sweeper keeper, Marcelo Gallardo going home to recover from a hamstring pull and never coming back and a number of other endearing indignities over the years. He used to write about DC United for websites that don’t exist anymore and now writes about them and the Washington Spirit for this website that clearly exists. When he’s not working on this podcast, writing about these teams, or attending games he…does nothing because that accounts for all of the time. He has a wife, daughter and dog who all are very nice to him and let him spend hours in the basement doing a job for which he doesn’t technically get paid.
